Hoho. Half of the 253 million files (120.5 million) hosted by audio platforms receiving fewer than ten streams last year. www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/half-of-all-...
Half of all paid music streams globally take place in just 4 countries.

Of some weird reason I get really good production and mix decisions when I'm on the floor with my back listening to the track.

Been experimenting with Ableton Live's Saturator that actually has hard and soft clipping. Saturator is really like a channel strip with colorization and clipping. Another nice bonus you get from Ableton by default.

With good audio tools you could find more issue with the final master -- darn you Isotope RX 11.

When I start desiring a specific audio tool, plugin, or device, I make an analysis how often I would use it. In many cases it results in an outcome that will remind me that this will not be used much. And if I get something, I make sure I use it as much as possible.

I have to start watching the RMS vs Peak levels.

www.yankodesign.com/2026/01/08/k... -- this is an interesting trackball, I've been looking for a good scrubber solution for Ableton Live/LogicProX.
Keychron’s Nape Pro turns your mechanical keyboard into a laptop‑style trackball rig: Hands-on at CES 2026 - Yanko Design
Most desktop setups still assume your mouse lives somewhere off to the right, waiting for you to break posture and reach across half the desk. Keychron’s new Nape Pro asks a different question: what i...

Isn't this nice, premixing, I have Tonal Balance Control and in the same window master channel's Ozone with just EQ that I could set the initial mastering qa to match a common bass heavy track!

Channel EQ at the end is for headphone adjustment via settings from autoeq.app.

My latest mastering chain has a lot of measurement plugins! Insight 2 to measure incoming RMS / Peak, Izotope Tonal Balance to check the frequency levels, Wave Observer to see if the mastering output is hopefully not sausage-like...

Audio mixing is like using a rasp, mastering like using sandpaper.

Just now centralizing using and learning inside out the #Izotope Neutron and Ozone products for mixing/mastering, they cover nearly anything I need.

Tags in Ableton Live is nice but I've stuck with the same naming convention for loops for years so I could quickly find them with a file name search: bass@<name of loop>, pat@<pattern such as arp>, atm@<pads et rest>, beat@<drum only loops> and so on...

BTW Massive-X has lots and lots of really good modern bass sounds, and with the X/Y parameters and automation you could make those really vivid. If nothing else get the free Massive-X plugin.

I tied two of my new alias artist names to themes so now when I need artwork for releases it's reflected indirectly by the name itself. Less need to figure out what images to use.

Finally, got all the ten tracks mastered. I hope Izotope Ozone 12 will make life easier for the next round.

My this years MacBookPro M4 makes final mixing and mastering a blast, I could get 3x more done in the same time as when using older computers. Good.

This is my life, simple remastering and I ended up changing synth sounds to make things gel better. Better anyway than endless eq tweaking.

I was going to order a Novation Launchpad but realized that hey all the piano practice and chord studies in my younger days should be used in studio work by playing on real keyboard.
