My debut novel, Whispers of Fire and Shadow, is a dark fantasy about a woman who uncovers the truth behind her town’s strange history and her unexpected role in a much larger conflict. #fantasyreads #indieauthor #writerscommunity #authorlife #amwriting
Writing a sequel is… a different beast entirely. 📝 I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this, but writing the second book in a series feels far more challenging than writing the first. #amwriting #fantasyreads #indieauthor #darkfantasy #writingcommunity #debutnovel #fantasybooks

Ever hear a story and think, I’ve heard this before? The farm boy who turns out to be the lost prince. The scrappy orphan who, surprise, is the key to saving the world. Fantasy is full of these. And yet, no matter how many times we read them, we keep coming back for more. #authorblog #indieauthor

This stage of the process has been one of the most challenging and most rewarding parts of writing so far. There have been days it felt overwhelming, but slowly, step by step, the story is becoming stronger. 📚📖📝 #indieauthor #writingcommunity #amwriting #writingjourney
Book Update: Finding My Way Through the Forest
It’s been a daunting journey, but I’m excited to share that I’m about 80% finished with a major developmental edit of my novel!

☕️ Writing a book for the first time is a huge learning experience. I’ve already started a list of things I’ll do differently next time. Any other first-time authors out there keeping track of what they’ll change for their second book? 📚📖📝 #indieauthor #writingcommunity #amwriting #writingjourney

The Last Unicorn: Why This Fantasy Classic Still Matters
There are stories that entertain, stories that thrill, and then there are those rare few that burrow into the soul, leaving marks that never fade. The Last Unicorn is such a story for me...

There are stories, and then there are the stories behind them. A tale well-told lingers long after the last word is read, but a tale wrapped in uncertainty and deception—now, that is a story that lives on. Washington Irving knew this well. 📚 #authorblog #indieauthor #writesky
Washington Irving Stories: How Legend Becomes Truth
Washington Irving knew how to blur that line. Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow live on because they make us question—what is truth, and what is legend?

Men have feared the dark for as long as they have huddled around fires, and within that darkness, the black cat prowls—an omen, a mystery, a trick of fate. Embracing the highs and lows. Some days, the words flow effortlessly; others, every sentence feels like a battle. Yet, even on rough days, each sentence brings me closer to my goal of publishing my first novel. Every word counts in this journey. #writersofbluesky #newwriter #indieauthor #fantasy

Interestingly, a blog is also freeing. At one time, a favorite phrase among people I knew was “stick it in a blog,” which means several things — but in part, “If you just want to do whatever you want, get a blog.” Not a comment section, not somebody’s replies, not somebody’s inbox. A blog.
A reminder that a blog doesn't have to be text-based. Post pictures, post links, post videos, post frickin memes, for Christ's sake. It doesn't have to be award-winning prose any more than your social media does

Sometimes, I wish my novel was finished and wrapped in a beautiful cover. But I know good things take time, and I must be patient with the process. Every word brings me closer, and the end result will be worth it. 📝📚
