What if AI wasn’t the end of writing, but the beginning of something new? If you’ve ever wondered how AI can be a tool in the classroom or your own writing practice, this book is for you. On sale now through April 10! www.heinemann.com/products/187...
My 9th graders now have full access to Gemini, so my goal isn’t to block AI. It’s to teach them to stay the author. Lochlin drafted his memoir by hand, then used Gemini as a second reader, keeping his voice & tossing what didn’t sound like him. AI as mirror, not ghostwriter. #AIinEducation #EduSky

Here’s a quick clip on why my students write first, then ask AI. Never the other way around. Curious how this looks period by period with real teens? Take a listen & drop your questions. #EduSky #EduSkyAI #AIinEducation #iTeachEnglish

The clock’s ticking, essays stacked, & that voice whispers: AI could grade faster. Tempting. But I’d miss the human moments. Like when a student stopped by & I’d just graded her essay. Stunning. The pride
on her face: Worth every minute. AI’s efficient. But it can’t feel that. #AIinEducation #AIWW

Teaching isn’t just “great tutoring.” It’s trust, relationships, creativity, & seeing the whole human. AI is a tool, only as powerful as the humans who wield it. Is Gates underestimating the human side, or am I overestimating it? #EduSky #AIinEducation #iTeachEnglish #AIWW #EduSkyAI bit.ly/4nieQQ

Just because AI can grade student writing doesn’t mean it should. Our students don’t write to impress a rubric—they write to be heard.

These are the real Qs educators are asking about #AI —not just how to use it, but how to use it ethically, authentically, & in ways that deepen learning. This is what the front lines of education look like: thoughtful, curious, & deeply human. How would you respond? #EduSkyAI #AIWW #AIinEducation

Icebreaker idea:
1. Introduce yourself as a word you love (like “serendipity” or “bananas”)
2. Mix words. Pass back out at random + a random image
3. Write a quick story or poem on or alongside the image
Silly, creative, and builds instant community. Try it. You’ll love it. We sure did. #EduSky
