Happening now: Mount Etna in Italy is erupting and raining ash. The name means “I burn” and it’s been active for 2.5+ million yrs. The land/plate Italy is on is being smashed by another piece of land/plate which causes these eruptions. Same reasons Mt. Vesuvius erupted and obliterated Pompeii.

It seems Japan is active from their lunch time onwards because my skyline is filled with cute, pretty, and yummy posts, particularly in their evening hours. No idea what they’re saying but I hit Like anyway.

It seems that people on Bsky had a different experience from mine when using Mastodon. I am part of a server that keeps me abreast of the latest studies in my field and includes many people I admire. It's worth noting the different possible experiences people have when interacting w/ diff. platforms

The What's Hot section promotes a scarcity mindset that impacts many users. Alas, it is yet another social media app that capitalizes user emotions rather than fostering expression and diverse community building.
I haven't noticed any easy way for groups to be created in Blue Sky. It’s a missed opportunity. It seems like there’s one large chat room focused on whatever captures the majority's attention for that day. That in turn forces the culture/narrative on to users regardless of the intention.
