Interesting study about ozone affecting nestmate recognition and eliciting aggression in ants 🐜.
Ants recognize their nestmates by their distinctive hydrocarbons, including alkenes. Ozone pollution can degrade these alkene compounds, leaving these social insects stranded in a world of strangers . In PNAS: https://ow.ly/qrCn50Yaq1f

For a project, I want to film ants 🐜 each hour over several days, but only for about ten seconds. I would want to watch the videos later on.
Now I need your help BlueSky community: Is there any setup/blueprint that we could use to build it ourselves or is there a company with low-budget solutions?

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

Evidence for climate-mediated range expansion of hybrid wood ants
Climate change challenges many species. To persist, species can shift ranges, respond plastically, and adapt. Yet, these responses require variation - often limited in natural populations. While hybri...
