My biggest takeaway from this course was understanding the different communication patterns. I have never tried to understand different types of communication, but this course taught me a lot about myself and others. #UTcommtheory

My favorite theory was the family communication theory. It was interesting to learn about the different ways families communicate and how my family communicated. It was something I never thought of, and it gave me a new perspective. #UTcommtheory

One article I saw was about how AI is taking over schools and teaching systems. AI is improving more and more every day, and it is clearly affecting education systems. cardinalnewmansociety.org/there-is-no-...
There Is No AI Shortcut to Education - Cardinal Newman Society
Educational optimists predict that artificial intelligence, or “AI,” will soon provide amazing efficiencies and progress in teaching and learning. But are efficiency and machine logic what our student...

I think the agenda-setting theory is still relevant. The media is still trying to influence the public's perception, but I do think there are ways not to see it. For me, my algorithm does not show much media and mostly other stuff I am interested in. #UTcommtheory

Someone I have a parasocial relationship with is a character named Shoyo Hinata. He is a volleyball player, and he is always striving to be the best version of himself. He shows determination and so much passion for the game, which has helped me with my love for volleyball. #UTcommtheory

I chose Disney, and it is a powerful franchise that teaches children about identity, family, race, and adventure. I have personally learned many valuable life lessons from watching Disney movies. Whenever I watch a Disney movie, it always puts me in a great mood and makes me so happy! #UTcommtheory

I experience content collapse after a night out with my friends. We always take the cutest pictures, but I never think it's a good idea to post them because of my followers. #UTcommtheory

AI has positively impacted my educational experience by helping me organize certain projects or notes. I would put my notes into AI and have it organize them into something that made more sense in my head. It worked very well, and I did better on quizzes because of it. #UTcommtheory

I have engaged in nonassertive assimilation by censoring myself. This is more when I talk to people I am meeting for the first time, or even someone I meet in class. I don't get very personal with people I am meeting for the first time, and I only engage in small talk. #UTcommtheory

I am very bad at making decisions, but I respond the most to participation. When it comes to making decisions with a group, it is important to hear from everyone what they think about the topic. #UTcommtheory

I think hospitals could use a culture shift especially when it comes to nurses. I have always heard that nurses get treated unfairly in the hospital setting when in reality they are doing most of the work everyday. #UTcommtheory

Pathos- There are so many hungry children out there. I wish food were more accessible and cheaper for them and their families so they don’t go to bed hungry. #UTcommtheory

This happens to me a lot when it comes to saving money. I tell myself I need to save it for my future, and then I decide to buy a pair of shoes I don't need. This also happens when I am trying to decide if I want to eat at home or go somewhere. #UTcommtheory

I agree with the media multiplexity theory. With some of my friends, I message them on many different platforms because of the content on different platforms. One of my friends and I talk to each other on three different apps. We send videos to each other, text, and Snapchat. #UTcommtheory

One time in high school, someone posted something that I don't think was meant for the public. I remember seeing it and being so confused as to why anyone would want to post it, especially since they had a public profile. Thankfully, it was taken down within the hour. #UTcommtheory

Shrek and Fiona are an example of stability and change. During the beginning stages of their marriage it is very easy going and stable. Throughout the movies, there are more challenges they have to face because of new adventures and life decisions. #UTcommtheory

I like Axiom 6 the most. It is so easy and refreshing to talk to someone who has similar interests to me. Conversation always flows so much easier when you talk to someone who values and likes the same things as I do. #UTcommtheory

I was on a flight and a random girl sat by me. We had small talk at first and then when it was take off time I thought it was over. She told me her life story and all of the struggles she has been through. I was shocked she told me all of this because I was a stranger. #UTcommtheory

I grew up in a consensual family. My parents would set certain rules and ask us how we feel about them. As we got older, we were able to meet in the middle with some rules. The biggest thing my mom wanted us to do was pick up after ourselves, do our chores, and be home on time. #UTcommtheory

I chose to do option 2 and sit really close to one of my teammates. She was very concerned at first and kept looking at me funny. I asked her if she was uncomfortable, and she said she did not like physical touch. We have a good relationship; she just does not like physical touch. #UTcommtheory

On Tuesday, my allergies were really bad, and I didn't want to go to class. My "I" was I didn't want to get out of bed and do anything, but my "me" knew I needed to go to class and make the most out of my day. #UTcommtheory

I find the socio-psychological communication tradition most appealing. It is interesting learning about different ways people perceive certain subjects when theorizing. Psychology has always been an interesting topic for me. I enjoy seeing how this also aligns with theory. #UTcommtheory

I am more drawn to the interpretive approach to theorizing because I like the idea of different perspectives being added to theories, rather than just examining the set facts. #UTcommtheory
