J.D. Vance knows this is dumb. But, he knows his supporters are dumber.

Continually, these people tell their base what they think of them, knowing their base can't read an insult.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

I can't imagine the fury that must justifiably be burning inside Bernie all the time.

His party – due to its incumbent, flaccid leadership – is broken and incompetent to a comical degree, allowing a potentially irreversible dictatorship to burst through its cracks.
Tapper: Angus King said standing up to Donald Trump didn't work.

Sanders: Maybe Angus didn't notice the elections on Tuesday. I thought that they worked pretty well.

The bad news: This week might be the end of the Democratic Party as we've known it.

The good news? This week might be the end of the Democratic Party as we've known it.
Authoritarianism can only succeed when democracy fails to deliver for working people.

Authoritarian parties can only succeed when the pro-democracy parties fail to fight for working people.

We need a new democracy and a new party system which can represent working people.

As always, this is well done by Mina.

And, as always, Stephen A. Smith is spending a lot of time attacking people when he could just spend two seconds saying, I'm sorry.
Hey I posted about this on the other app but wanted to do so here, too.

In short: I said yes without doing an ounce of vetting, and that's 100% on me. Thought it was just a normal marketing gig and I'm incredibly embarrassed about the whole thing. A colossal fuck-up on my part.
Mina, please help us understand the solitaire situation. I think most fans are concerned about its origins. I ask respectfully. Best wishes.

He's right.

The #Dodgers know it, too.

And that's okay! That's what sports is. The better team doesn't always win – and the better team didn't win on Friday *or* Saturday.

I understand that most of the conversation around Bari Weiss will fall into a political swamp but, and I cannot stress this fundamental point enough:

She is not a real journalist.

Left or right, *that* is the problem.

It would be easy to watch that Jimmy Fallon monologue and think he doesn’t have values, but that’s not true.

He values his job.

And probably nothing else.

I don't like the #Canucks spending $13M on goalies, but I'll say this......

The cap is going up, and you can no longer win or contend with a workhorse goaltender.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been to 3 straight Cup Finals and won 2 and he hasn't played 60+ games in a season since 2019.

The Canadian government's decision to push forward with both Bill C-18 and the Digital Services Tax – two short-sighted, stubborn, archaic pieces of legislation – in a 24-month period is an all-time bullet to the dick of a country that can't afford it.

I know everyone thinks the average #Trump voter is someone taking a sunglasses selfie in their car.

But this is absolutely the average Trump voter – and it's the reason he won in 2024.

I believe the overarching theme of the 2010s in film was breakage. The 'Two Americas'. It's why I had The Florida Project as my favourite film of the last decade.

In the 2020s, I believe the theme is: What happens after everything breaks? The answer is reckoning, ruin, mourning, and more breakage.
