سازمان ملل متحد روز چهارشنبه اعلام کرد که بهبود وضعیت اقتصادی افغانستان با رکود مواجه است، زیرا از هر ۱۰ خانواده، ۹ خانواده مجبور به حذف وعده‌های غذایی، فروش وسایل یا گرفتن قرض برای زنده ماندن می‌شوند. این سازمان هشدار داده که بازگشت گسترده مهاجرین، بحران این کشور را تشدید کرده است. گزارش برنامه توسعه سازمان ملل متحد نشان می‌دهد که تقریباً از هر ۱۰ افغان خارج از کشور، یک نفر مجبور به بازگشت به وطن شده است و از سال ۲۰۲۳ بیش از ۴.۵ میلیون نفر، عمدتاً از ایران و پاکستان، به کشور بازگشته‌اند که جمعیت کشور را ۱۰ درصد افزایش داده است.
