This claim by Trump IS A LIE! In fact, the Democrats in question understated the situation. Members of the U.S. military not only CAN refuse *illegal* orders, they are REQUIRED to do so under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

For context, federal law, including the UCMJ, *requires* members of the military to *disobey* illegal orders. This has been true since at least the Nuremberg Trials after WW II and is one of the first things recruits are taught (at least it was in 1970).
