Have you ever had to deal with being in a cold area while having nothing to protect you from the elements? This 'bold had, from what they've heard.

Those paragraphs above were the rewritten version. This Kobold would say they did a good job with it. Down here is the original story, showing off events that have happened not even written yet in the newer... edition. T'was a collaborative effort with a friend. Quite fun. Quite violent.
Singe watches the sudden bar fight with wide eyes, hands on his neck, attempting to sooth it from that tightness he felt earlier. Now was a good moment to flee the scene, he thought as he discreetly took one step towards a close, easy exit. That would ensure him safety from those brutes and he'd come out without a scratch on him. No harm done. He took another step, and then another, trying to keep down the feeling of guilt in his gut as he was approaching an open window, hands out to grab onto the frame and slink out of there. But before he could do so, the guilt hit him full-force. For Kurtulmak's sake, the man saved him, and yet he's sneaking away like a coward. The least he could do here is attempt to help. The kobold steps away from the window, and steels himself for what is about to come. Setting his eyes on one of the guards in the brawl, he swiftly rushes over, ready to jab a short sword in the weakest spot he could find. Singe yanks out his short sword out of the guard's dripping neck, crimson now coating his beloved weapon. Annoyance is creeping on his face, already done with this commotion. Head whipping to snarl at the guards, he raises his bloodied blade along with the other half of his pair, and rushes over to the unknowing men with agility. He's ready to stab, kick, even bite them savagely if it means the fight will end sooner. Wanted... dead?! The kobold turns his head from the decapitated captain to the warrior, watching as the one who saved him just suddenly leave. Was he wanted, too? He did murder those wretched guards to help the human, he’s partly responsible for this outcome, is he not? Singe looks over at the entrance to see the beaten pulp on the floor that was once a man. Head crushed into mush, blood and guts mercilessly spewed around that small area… Singe’s breathing quickens, eyes wide as he clutches his chest and processes what deep trouble he potentially got himself into. He might become just like that, mashed into the ground. He can’t let that happen, he still needs to find someone. It feels like the walls are closing in, and he starts to feel smaller as the patrons eyes bore into his skull, all staring right at him. Any one of them could snitch and he’d be put away, rotting. Tapping his foot in rising anxiety, he glances over to his bartender friend. “Sorry, Keep.” Singe shakily signs, snatching his belongings and running out of the tavern without telling him goodbye. The cool, night air hits his scales as he frantically searches for the man. ...There! In the growing distance; walking away from the scene is the warrior. Singe hurries after him. Singe stamps his foot on the floor, frantically signing with his shaking hands, “You saved me from that guard. I helped you with taking the others down. I am a…” he stops his motions halfway, staring down while he thinks, “An accomplice. They might go after me, too. Everyone saw.” He lets out a frustrated dog-like whine, "They might kill me. I don't want to die yet, I still have to prove myself. I have someone to look for!" "And I don't know what to do. I brought my weapons down on those humans without thinking of the consequences. I have nowhere to go. Please, can I at least follow you until there is some place of safety?"

This Kobold remembers how fun it was to write out little stories like this. They haven't done such a thing for a while due to a kind of writer's block which SUCKS.

Maybe finishing this might help? Oooh, but there are many other things this 'bold wants to write about...

The dim lanterns hung from the rafters, emitting a soft glow throughout the windowed tavern. Quiet it was, the usual cheerful laughter and shouts of drunken joy were not present this night. Instead the patrons spoke in hushed whispers about the yearly election, with most afraid to bring it up. “Did you hear that the sheriff’s been suppressing people who try to vote?” One man said. “They’ve been sending guards around our village lately.” “Aye, I have. The wife and kids are too afraid to even walk outside nowadays. One of ‘em be in a cast due to what those damn thugs done.” Another man piped up, slurring down his words from the booze he’s been downing, evident by the many empty mugs at the table. “Whose brilliant idea was it to have ex-cons run a town?” Listening in to the conversation with keen ears was a kobold, scales the color of rusty metal and a brown cloak that covered most of his reptilian features. He tapped the counter with one claw as he hid away on one of the farthest barstools in the corner, sharp yellow eyes following the drink he ordered with some spare gold pieces. With the past few days being a complete hectic mess, he needed some time to calm his worried mind and relax, and the tavern was the first place he thought of. “Here you go, Singe. Don’t mind the mess.” The human tavern-keep set down a shiny mug on the counter. It was filled to the brim with creamy, non-alcoholic liquid escaping the top of its confines and flowing down the sides. « Thank, » the kobold signed. Singe pulled out a cloth from his backpack next to him, wrapping the fabric around the mug to prevent his hands from becoming sticky. He carefully pulled it closer towards himself so it didn’t spill further. The kobold took a sip——cold, smooth and refreshing. A fruity taste filled his mouth, something akin to strawberries. « Is good. Of all place I been, this one best. » Singe’s sign language in Common was quite broken, nonetheless he tried his hardest to communicate, even if it did frustrate him somewhat. The man over the counter chuckled quietly, “Ha! Thank you, friend! I do the best I can to please my patrons. After all, no one else can do the job quite like I can…” He put a hand up to his face, eyebrows knit together, his lips pursed as he struck a dramatic pose, “Flat drinks, unsatisfied customers, no soul… Oh! The tragedy it could become, if I weren’t here, working and listening to whatever ails you.” Moving quickly, he returned to his usual self, drying off dirty glasses with a clean cloth. Singe let out a snorted giggle, covering his mouth with one hand. « Qui- » The sudden loud BANG of tavern doors bursted open, causing the whole establishment to go fully silent. A few guards entered, looking around, banging their sticks onto the walls. “So. I think you all know who to vote for, eh? There’s no point in choosing anyone else.” A guard spoke, his voice low and slimy-sounding like he swallowed a few ochre jelly. “I’ll vote for Cart. He seems to actually give a damn.” A man slumped over a table replied, looking as if he was on the brink of falling asleep with the dark circles around his eyes.
