Mostly nothing is important. But yesterday there were swallowtail caterpillars eating up all the parsley and now I know that parsley is important.

Last night, I’ve just remembered, I dreamed I was invited at the last minute to a class that was reading my first book, a story collection, and one by one students came to the mic to expound their love for it and me, shaking my head, this can’t be true. It was a huge class, endless. My heart.

I wrote an essay on language and forgetting and grief for a Lacanian issue of English Studies in Canada. It’s an homage to my late friend and mentor, the critical theorist, Mari Ruti. 💔

On a long walk today, involving the exercising of dogs, some elicit rolling (the dogs not me), distant swans on lake Consecon, mist, and a lovely trudgy amount of snow, I had an epiphany concerning how to structure this new novel. #writer #writing #novel #lovestory
