Remember: You’re One Person, Not the Universe

It’s not your job to fix everything, but your existence as a caring person already matters. Even if you can’t change the world overnight, the fact that you feel and care is part of what makes the world better.

Engage in Restorative Practices

Art, music, nature, meditation, or even just quiet moments can help reset your emotional state. These aren’t distractions—they’re necessary for sustaining long-term compassion.

Find Community

You don’t have to process these feelings alone. Talking to like-minded people, whether in person or online, can remind you that you’re not the only one who cares.

Limit Doomscrolling

Constant exposure to suffering (especially on social media) can deepen feelings of powerlessness. Stay informed, but set limits on how much news you take in at once.

Channel It Into Action

Empathy without action can feel helpless. Even small actions—donating, volunteering, spreading awareness, or supporting affected communities—can transform overwhelming feelings into meaningful impact.

Even the most compassionate person can’t pour from an empty cup.

*Set Emotional Boundaries*

Caring about injustice doesn’t mean you have to be consumed by it 24/7. It’s okay to step back, take a break, and recharge. Think of it like breathing: inhale for yourself, exhale for others

You don’t have to carry all the weight alone. Acknowledge the sadness, but don’t let it consume you. Small actions, even in dark times, matter. What’s one thing you can do today, however small, that aligns with the world you want to see?

Left or right, it's wrong.

This is the wrong side of history.

We are seeing the weight of history repeating itself in ways that should have been left behind, and this is painful to experience.

Nothing like finding out because of the change to my contract in October to benchmark my salary they felt I didn't need the 1% cost of living increase to my payroll. My cost of living still went up, my bills still went up. I don't even make the median salary for my area.

I need to go to my home country to help my family, but home country is scary. It isn't the place I grew up in. It has grown into a violent, unbridled monster.
I hope I can travel there and return safely before it gets any worse.

Hi.
I am still settling in here, how does one find people of similar interests? I live under a rock and don't know how these new technologies work.

I like stegosaurus, art, farm life, gardening and animals with some light politics, human rights and activism.
