About last night... It was an honour to help open the Nottingham Waterstones Women in Horror weekend talking about @blpublishing.bsky.social Tales of the Weird books 🖤🦇🎃
It was also a thrill to be the guest at the same Waterstones I used to work at, many moons ago 😁

I like to make memes of 90s songs that students won't know as a way to help them understand archaeological dating. Foolproof.

When centrists adopt far-right rhetoric, they don’t make themselves stronger. They make themselves look inauthentic, legitimise the far right, and shift the political debate onto terrain defined by their opponents.

One of the warmest, kindest, most generous people I've ever met. Such a loss. 💔
A dear, dear friend, John J Johnston, has died suddenly this morning. Am devastated. He let me stay at his granny flat when I visited London a few years ago, and I had a brilliant night out with him and his husband John. A kind, gentle soul. This is a bleak day.

It me! I'll be doing a panel about the @blpublishing.bsky.social Tales of the Weird series with Zara-Louise Stubbs, editor of 'The Uncanny Gastronomic', at Nottingham Waterstone's on Halloween 🖤

Especially fun as I used to work at this branch, many moons ago...

When Abu jumps up at people and tries to steal their food in a coffee shop, he's 'so cute', 'so friendly', 'adorable'. Yet when I do it, I get asked to leave.

Because I am very tired and finding it hard to be motivated by anything, here is a picture of Abu as a puppy, shortly after he was rescued from the side of a road in Bosnia. You're welcome.

Holy fuck yes to this
we would be in a much better state in this country if we stopped focusing on anointing a chosen few working class students into Oxbridge, and instead properly funded all the different sorts of universities that attract students from a wide range of backgrounds already
Oxford University and @cam.ac.uk have each received a £6.25 million gift to expand their outreach work with socio-economically disadvantaged students in STEM subjects.
