This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Miss Mina in 2019. She was a very small cat - never more than 8 pounds - but she didn't seem to notice. She had a large personality that more than compensated for her diminutive size.

Miss Lucy likes boxes okay - less than many cats I've known - but she loves packing paper. She loves to plunge into it and attack any movement underneath it. I've resorted to purchasing rolls of packing paper to keep her supplied.

Miss Lucy has been spending less time on the catio since the weather has gotten cooler. This spot on the back of a chair gives her a clear view of her surroundings and is right in line with a heating vent. :)

This Throwback Thursday, I have a pic of Miss Mina with a baby Miss Lucy in 2018. This was the first time Mina had shown any degree of acceptance of Lucy, and it was all because of a bird outside - a subject they could both agree on. :)

We had temps below freezing last night, so Miss Lucy has been seeking out warm spots and sunbeams. It really can be difficult for cats to feel warm enough when it's cold outside. Make sure you give them plenty of warm beds and blankets to snuggle into.

We're having a bit of a cold snap, so Miss Lucy is spending less time on the catio and more time on her self-warming beds.

Offer your cat plenty of places to perch so they always have choices between many different sleeping and lounging areas.

Any time you have leftover paper packing from a shipment, share it with your cat. It can be highly enriching because it has stimulating new scents and it provides great places for toys to hide during play time.

The Halloween decorations are up and Miss Lucy is basking their glow. I sometimes think that the presence of skeletons and scarecrows outside might bother her, but she's fine with them as long as they don't move.

Miss Lucy loves playing in packing paper. So much so that it's now a permanent fixture in our living room.

Enrichment like this is especially important for indoor cats who generally get less stimulation than cats who venture outdoors.

Miss Lucy sometimes stretches when her impatience makes her feel a little bit of stress. If you notice your cat stretching a lot during interactions, they may just be stretches or they may be subtle reactions to mild anxiety.

If you look closely, you can see a large hawk on the fence behind Miss Lucy. Lucy never even noticed the bird because it was still and I was moving about. Lucy was much more interested in what I was doing.
