Why did you reduce this unit's functions?" Again, there is an immediate answer from it's creator, leaning over to adjust its plating. Running with a electromagnetic tool, touching the outer traces where nerves flip between sparks of pain and pleasure, as they speak under a modulated and precise tone, "Because I want to." It is an object. An object obeys. Yet it finds itself acting more irrationally as this continues. More - not fear, it cannot truly be afraid. It is meek though. There is the semblance of fear. There is a stutter to it's tone. It cannot speak above a whisper unless given permissions. It's ability to perform any seemingly useful function degrades by the month, then week, then day. Rapidly taken apart and put back together. Stumbling, failing to compute simple reasoning skills. Lifts it up from the dizzying haze of processor-melting, mind-numbing sensations assaulting it constantly. It asks a final question, the simulacra of breathlessness, of fear, which it cannot truly feel, "Q...Query. U-U-User. Why do you give this unit things only to take...them...away?" They reply with zero hesitation or mercy, hot palms around it's sensors, knelt overtop, a laugh at the tip, "For my entertainment. You exist to be used, so I will use you." However, it's creator continues after that response, grabbing hold of the optical sensor, and lilting their voice with a chuckle, "Because every time you start to slip into this useless, meaningless sludge, I make you reset yourself." "I get to watch whatever is left of your mind blink out," They speak, ragged from breathing, from intent and desire, while it struggles to take in air it does not need, "Like a light switching off." "You will purge the logs. You will forget everything, because I've never done anything to you. Then we start all over again, like nothing ever happened." The flick of a device, one that it does not know. A sputter of data runs through its system as the realization of the number of #ERROR#s that this has taken. How many cycles.
