Saturday marked the final day of training for our winter CERT class. Twenty participants completed the course, learning skills to help their family and neighbors in a disaster. They are now eligible to volunteer with the Kitsap Community Emergency Response Team. Congratulations!

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday for the Hood Canal and Puget Sound shorelines of Kitsap County. Watch for flooding of parking lots and roads. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

The Puget Sound region is under a Cold Weather Advisory from midnight tonight to 9 AM Saturday. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Check on vulnerable friends and family. If you are traveling, use extra caution, and be sure you have emergency supplies including extra clothing and blankets.

Be prepared for strong winds on Wednesday. While there is still some uncertainty, confidence is growing in the potential for sudden southerly gusts as high as 50-60 mph in western Washington. The period of greatest concern is around 12PM-5PM.

Counties across western WA used READY SET GO! last week. This standard evacuation alert language provided people with a clear understand of what to do as the danger grew.

The same alerts will be used in Kitsap:
- Ready: Evacuation possible
- Set: Evacuation likely
- Go!: Evacuate immediately!
