I have a more aggressive form of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) which has led me to having a left, radical open nephrectomy this summer as well as starting dialysis. You can see a picture of my bad, bubbly, bean that they removed (if that's your kind of thing).

Today is PKD Awareness Day and I want to talk today about both PKD and organ donation. First, today I am thinking about my Dad and my aunt who were such positive role models while coping with this disease. Second, I wanted to share a bit about my recent journey with PKD.

Started dialysis this week due to lowering function and in preparation for left nephrectomy. Shout out to all the dialysis nurses for teaching me so much already. #pkd #dialysis #kidneydisease

It should also be easier to get vaccinated. Without a family doctor, it is very difficult to do as an adult. Many walk-in clinics do not provide vaccination. Public Health units should be providing to all ages, not just children.

The Trump admin has cancelled the panels that approve NIH grants, & is also banning scientists from communicating with the public, attending conferences, and hiring.

NIH is the largest funder of biomedical research in the world. This will severely halt the development of many lifesaving treatments.
