Welcome to my BlueSky page! Thank you for visiting.
I write about the magical adventures of Magster, the intrepid Cockapoo.
Children's adventure / chapter books for 6-12 yrs old.

Silverwood Books , Troubador Publishing, SCBWI

Yesterday marked 2 months since Magster's second outing - Magster and the Auriaku Koi - was published.
Therefore, I thought I would drop some little snippets about it, for those who have not read it yet; new characters, locations, and some facts.

3 chapters smashed out this morning, so it's time for a break. I'm going to scan iPlayer for a nice uplifting and heartwarming film to watch before lunch.

Ah!...what's this? Deliverance.
This should do.

Gutted to read this news, this morning.
A formidable bass player and part of two bands that I admire greatly.
Chatted to him once at a gig at The Dublin Castle... a top lad.
Last saw him play live with Primal Scream and he played a belter.
RIP Mani 😔

Just a gentle reminder that any difference of opinion you might come across regarding books or music, is an attack on you personally, and should be taken as such.

Caught 20 mins of "Zulu" on TV having lunch, and I genuinely wondered why I wasn't seeing Roy Castle in the scenes, until it dawned on me, that I was actually "mind- mixing" in scenes from Carry On Up The Khyber.
Easy mistake, right? Similar, yeah? 😉 🤔🤷‍♂️

That's a little Kit in the background. Back when I tickled the fretboard for m' dinner.

TOTP recording with the lovely Shaznay Lewis.

Been reviewing my research photos for Magster and the Auriaku Koi and a chunk of book 3.
I am so lucky to have lived close to the beautiful Rutland water, and still live fairly near to it now.
A lovely and peaceful place, apart from when Magster and Co, are in the thick of it!

My new wine from Chateau Magster Towers is called "The Book Marketer's Folly"

It's definitely nearly ready, because it's giving a very heavy headache, a bitter aftertaste, and indulging in too much of it makes you aggressive.

Santé!

Now, who said scraping needles down your arm can't be fun, eh?
Back in with Jess at Fable and Flesh - the next stage of my Hendrix "Monterey" Strat pattern sleeve is underway.
I love how Jess has adapted the original, to make the design.

I've had to replenish my Léa Stein stock recently, for my Antiques, Vintage and Collectables gigs.
Luckily, I bumped into my favourite dealer today, whilst out on duties, and added this little lady to the case.
Rather apt for me, don't you think? 😉

I mean, it's really not possible to name a general "greatest" rock band, or "greatest" anything. But, in this instance, if Forbes are wrong, they are not wrong by much.

Rode out of spooky season with these 2 crackers. 👻
Very different scares, but both terrific reading.
A ghostly, supernatural punch in the guts from #PhilHickes and a frantic chase from a sinister entity by @christopheredge.bsky.social, have seen me right.
Nice one, lads! 👍

Listened to some of "The Island of Brilliant" podcast, this morning
Fantastic from @frankcottrellboyce.bsky.social and @nadiashireen.bsky.social .
I plead guilty to a charge of favouritism by listening to @louiestowell.bsky.social and Jennifer Killick first, but it's all fab. Recommended! 👍

Had a serious revisit to The Cocteau Twins music, this afternoon.
It was a splendid writing companion.
Melodic, dreamy, powerful, with an ethereal quality to it.
Must listen to them more often.

I was today years old when I realised that the surest way to measure how sweet my mood is, is how loud I am singing "Squeeze Box", during dinner prep.

Apt that I wish you all a Happy Halloween, on the morning that I finished this horror gem.
Gloam by #JackMackay was every bit as good, as I had heard.
Nightmare-ish monsters, an old family home with a secret, a bleak and stormy Island, all brought to life beautifully.
Ace! 👍

Very sad to hear about the passing of Prunella Scales.
An amazing career, period!... but no one else could have played Sybil Fawlty. No one!
