A knock on the door. “Come in!”Simon enters the office with Taka sitting on his shoulder. “Good mor…ning?”, the greeting turns into more of a question as he sees the state of the room. Klavier sits behind his desk, deep in work, surrounded by ridiculously tall piles of what seems to be reports. “Gavin-dono?” “Simon?!”, Klavier perks up pleasantly surprised. “I’m so glad to see you back in the office again! I would’ve thrown a re-welcoming party buuut as you can see…” „Yeah, don’t bother”, Simon responds, raising an eyebrow. He walks up to the desk. Taka takes the opportunity to hop off his forearm on top of one of the piles. “I wanted to ask about my office assignment but Edgeworth-dono must’ve left. AND taken everyone with him, I suppose. Seriously, why is the entire floor empty?” “Oh, not just this one”, Klavier, leaning on the desk, sends his colleague a tired smile. “Come again?” “Since Herr Edgeworth got promoted he’s been weeding every corrupted prosecutor out of the office”, explains Klavier, rubbing his left temple. “So yeah… we’re a bit shorthanded at the moment.” (Smaller, side text reads: “I heard someone was so scared of him they left the country. Can’t recall the name though.” It’s accompanied by two mugshots of a suspiciously familiar older man in sunglasses.) Simon leans out of the doorway to look back at the empty corridor again. There’s nothing safe for a bunch of reports rolling past like a tumbleweed. “ONLY corrupt ones?”, he asks. Klavier sighs in response: “Ja…” Blackquill takes a moment to process the fact that there’s quite literally no one around except for him and prosecutor Gavin. The last shot shows Taka contentedly scratching his head, while Klavier breaks the silence in the background: “Heeey, I know you just came back but could you take a couple of reports off my hands?” There’s a pause. “Simon?” “This country is doomed.” “Huh?” “Nothing, pass me that file.”

That bad?” “Apparently I shall suffer eternity of torment for my ‘fraternizing’ with the defense.” Klavier leans back on the counter. “‘Fraternizing’, you say…” he thinks out loud.
