In the US, PM₂.₅ from wildfire smoke already kills about the same number of people as guns and cars (~40k each), but this will increase significantly with climate change. 😐

They were not interested in solving the problems we identified as the biggest issues we had, they wanted to use AI to "solve" problems we basically don't have.

I am involved in a project where one party wanted domain information for a possible hackathon: they asked for problems we would like to solve, so we sent them a bunch.
They came back to us and said "how can we reword this so we can use AI in the hackathon"

Not directly, we should limit investment to make sure all research into AI-related topics in equal.

Oh no...RIP Paul T Schrieber. He was the man behind Synthesis Technology, an important synth module maker for both #Eurorack and Moog/5U formats. He was REALLY good to me as a customer, and funny as hell. Heck, he bought one of my DOOM/Moog t-shirts.

I think the US has already lost Canada. Generations of trust wasted in a few months.
We're going to lose Canada and Mexico and Europe very, very soon if Trump and Vance aren't careful after this Zelensky disaster. I don't expect they will be careful. We're about to be on a geopolitical island in the middle of North America.
