We may yet get to the point that led to the establishment of unions and controls on the robber barons of the late 1800s... when we enforce "listen to the unions because it's better than the workers coming to burn your house down around your ears."

They'll prop him up as long as he's useful and throw him away in exchange for someone more useful when he becomes a liability but, in the mean time, he's trashing the country in favor of this group who he desperately wants to belong to.

He got elected and tanked - just like every other venture he tried... but, despite an abysmal term in the presidency, he came back -- and this time, the oligarchs saw the way. The conman was so universally hated by anyone except his sycophants that it didn't matter

Then along came a failed businessman... someone who SAW the oligarchy, but could never quite be successful enough to join it. He is/was a conman who somehow got people to believe him - despite multiple failures, despite being an ugly person inside and out.

By the 10s we were solidly back into that frame - although there were still some controls which had been well thought and well planned - and the oligarchs couldn't quite figure how to legally remove them.

Our capitalist society had some controls put on it, especially after the Depression and we thrived through the 70s with the controlled capitalistic approach.
In the 80s, with Reagan as front man, the republicans started re-instituting the oligarchy.
