This specific account is so illustrative of what queerphobia is based on: systemic extortion, blackmail, sexual exploitation, incarceration, coerced recruitment, torture

Anti-queer violence is, above all, institutionalised violence; social prejudices (indoctrination) is just an extention of it

2025 was a year of significant progress for EU enlargement.

Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Moldova stand out.

They advanced most on reforms in the past year.

Our candidates have ambitious goals to finish negotiations.

The coming year will be a moment of truth.

‘What becomes of gender and sexuality amidst the collapse of the liberal world order?’

In this essay, Dr Abeera Khan from SOAS’s Department of Gender Studies examines our current moment as one after homonationalism, where ‘the sparse and vanishing wages of inclusion lie exposed.’

'Rural environments are also not simply backdrops for extremist retreats. They provide practical advantages that make them attractive bases of operation. Remote properties offer space for training and tactical preparation that would be impossible in more closely monitored urban areas'
Far-right extremists are setting up rural enclaves around the world. We need to counter the threat they pose
In extremist circles, the idea of retreating to the land has been repurposed into a political strategy.

While it is up to Georgians to save their democracy, and big mistakes were made, the European countries have effective means to help. Instead, they plan to keep pretending visa paperwork counts as punishment for the regime. It is time to call out this obscenity.

Ivanishvili created them to fake ‘outside’ demands he can then ‘respond to’:

- Ban key opposition groups: endorsed, in progress
- ‘Sabotage’ claims against them, NGOs: investigation launched
- Limit media access in courtrooms: implemented

But that referendum ‘demand’ has been most consistent

Bad news for those tracking the far right: Facebook has made searching public posts significantly harder, at least for some users, myself included

Good news: Telegram rolled out a paid public post search (max 10 queries pd). I tested it and it made me happy (and predictably, also quite nauseous)
