Most teams "adopt AI" the same way they "adopted Agile"—rename some meetings, change nothing else. Copilot here, ChatGPT there, same 2019 workflows underneath. At Kilo we ship 3 major features/week with single-engineer ownership. The difference isn't the tools.

Reviews take too long, so engineers batch more into each PR. PRs get bigger, reviews take even longer. The loop feeds itself.

Suresh, who built Code Reviews, wrote about being on both sides of that bottleneck and why he wanted to fix it:

Developer output up 76% YoY. StackOverflow questions down 95%+ from peak. Engineers aren't being replaced—they're changing how they work.

The question isn't "Will AI replace me?" It's "How do I use it as a multiplier?"

Stay curious, not fearful.

See you later 2025: The year senior engineers went from "AI is fancy autocomplete" to shipping production code they've never read.

The thinking stays. The tedious key-hitting goes.
The engineering stays. The speed of shipping increases.

Maybe 2025 isn't the year of the Linux Desktop, but I think it could be looked as the year of mainstream AI coding in retrospect

90% of devs use AI at work. 13% of companies have a plan for it. That gap is where security incidents, shadow IT, and stalled initiatives live. Today we launched Kilo College—structured training for teams shipping production code, not weekend demos. Free intro course available now.
