If they are as whacked in the head as I think they are, then they can not succeed. Not for very long. When I get new idiot neighbors, they never seem to last long. They self destruct and go away. Life has ways and means for dealing with the delusional, the distorted and the demented.

There isn't a lot to do about the politics. I can't react to every stupid ass thing they do. I can't change anyone's mind (tried that). So I have to keep my own sanity in check and wait it out. Wait for them to self implode. Wait for all the supporters to get their heads out of their asses.
