Baseball fanatic. Collector of rare prewar cards, photos, and memorabilia. Love anything unique tied to St. Louis baseball history. Cardinals fan. #YNWA
Thought some folks here would be interested in seeing this - a series of correspondence between Branch Rickey and St. Petersburg Fl officials to arrange spring training games for the 1930 season. One has an authenticated Rickey autograph, which is the cherry on top of this amazing piece of history.

It's not often you get to add a vintage piece of Josh Gibson to your collection and I can't help but share it on his birthday. Although this is a later reprint (type 4) from 1972, I'm extremely happy since it is almost a zero percent chance I obtain a photo from his playing days.

Type 1 photo featuring Mike Shannon, Bob Gibson, Tim McCarver, and Orlando Cepeda - shot taken just as the cardinals infield raced to congratulate Gibby following the final out of the first game of the 1968 World Series (which was his WS record 17th strikeout of the game).

Crossed two big ones (one literally big) off my long term want list today! A bit surreal honestly.

A lost art in today’s game is the ability for hitters to change their approach with 2 strikes and…you know…not strike out. In MLB history, only 11 players have >1000 XBH’s while having more XBH’s than K’s.

For comparison, Aaron Judge has 493 XBH’s and 1,209 K’s in his career to date (woof)

Here’s an original 1922 photo of the great Rogers Hornsby and some amazing facts

- only player in mlb history to hit .400 and have over 40 home runs in a season
- 2x triple crown winner
- averaged .402 between 1921-1925
- led league in WAR 11 times (only others to do so are Ruth, Wagner, and Bonds

Happy Birthday to Stan “The Man” Musial!

Here is a Type 1 photo of the legend sliding into home to complete an inside the park home run at Wrigley Field in 1949.

This one is extra special because it comes from the Musial estate and used to reside in Stan’s personal collection.

Slowly but surely posting some old content from the other place to #cardsky. Here’s my Albert Pujols game used and signed bat from 2010, a game used and signed hat from 2004, and some cardinals autographed balls to go with it!

With HOF ballot argument season in full effect, I wanted to remind people that a player can both be a bit overrated as a complete hitter AND be a sure-fire first ballot hall of famer.

4 of the best and most unique pitchers in history are Cy Young, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Rube Waddell, and Mordecai Brown. They also each spent time on different St. Louis teams while primarily being known for their time spent elsewhere. Here are the 4 of them with representations of STL.

Here’s my original broadside from a game on July 4th, 1941 at Sportsmans Park in St. Louis between Satchel Paige’s Monarchs and the Chicago squad. Historic game in the St. Louis area as it was the first time that there were no restrictions on where black fans could sit, due to Paige’s insistence
