What does Google hope to gain by cutting back on open-source Android releases? Given that so few phones don't use Google's version, it seems pointless from a revenue perspective. So they wanted to make enthusiasts mad and create bad press?

Despite all the hype about how AI will improve the world, it seems to have mostly become a risk management consideration in the boardroom. Maybe traders should follow that view rather than chasing every marketing message.

Let's hope so. Unfortunately, at least OpenAI's modus operandi seems to be to rather cause damage than to allow anyone else to profit.

Just imagine: instead of having to send millions of dollars' worth of airplanes to suppress a nation's defenses, you could order three big tech companies to shut down your country, including utilities and the military. Yet, most nations are this dependent.

It is easy to frame Digital Sovereignty as Anti-Trump. Yet, in the long term, we should instead frame it positively as digital independence and self-determination. That way, it will survive the current mess in DC.

A silver lining: "Denmark's hard-line stance is likely to spread across Europe. Denmark will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) in the first half of 2026 and lead related discussions."
Unfortunately, politics on the ground and in the digital world get increasingly intermingled the more technology dominates our lives. Thus, we must understand the real-world impact of our connected world on nations and our lives.

I'd partly disagree. A lot of open-source code is under copyleft licenses, such as the Linux Kernel under the GPL. Thus, there was at least some control over anyone who used it or copied code from it. With AI, that agreement has been nullified.
Same for advertisements on free-to-the-reader websites.

Hollywood has struggled long before AI. The difference is that, instead of exploiting extras and new talent, AI is attacking the wallets of stars and executives. Let's not confuse Hollywood's fight against AI with the general social problems that unregulated AI brings.

Hollywood’s struggles in the age of AI
AI has become prevalent in a remarkably short amount of time. It regularly infiltrates our day-to-day lives while industries wrestle with the ethics and legality of using it in their businesses. Take Hollywood, which must now come to terms with AI and determine not just if the artificial can create art, but also what rights creatives have to their works.
