Join us TOMORROW (03.15.25) for a clean up of Roberts Forest at KPUMC. (8 am).
We're getting ready for springtime events by clearing limbs and debris that have fell over winter.

We could especially use some trucks to help us move debris to the curb for collection.

A clip of Pastor Eric's sermon from yesterday.
Full sermon video at Substack (link below...)
Empathy —contrary to theologian Joe Rigney— is not a “sin,” or a “liberal plot” to “trick” conservatives. They're are guides toward God’s calling, how we are compelled to action, a key lubricant that makes peaceful human society possible.

But we've been dealign with a question:
"How do we confront our death and mortality, in a year when death and mortality feel all too close?"

On #NYE2025 I am reminded of Dag Hammarskjold, former Sec General of the United Nations.

For many years as a NY Day journal entry.

In uncertain, dark, and divisive days, our faith calls us to hope we CAN be better.

Here’s to the New Year in North Oak Cliff, Dallas, and our world.

A few comments from Pastor Eric about immigration, Christmas, and what's to come in 2025.
Last night, Andrew and I stood in solidarity tonight with those who came to this small, resistance rally. It was advertised as centering concern about immigrants and the Dreamers. A few folks held up “No SB4” signs. /1

I’ve been arrested at the White House, defending immigrants.
Risked losing my career UM clergy career doing same sex weddings.
Defended reproductive rights.
Stood in solidarity with BLM.
Spoken against racism, fascism.

Nobody can jump into every cause.
But I'm praying for where I'll be led.

This @muzach.bsky.social post might strike some of you as an offensive appropriation.
But...

MAGA-GOP really is saying “my choice” to the autonomy of actual women.
But they also say “my choice” to “the Body of Christ.”
The two are, horrifically, interconnected.

Post-election statement from our UMC Bishops.
We are grateful for their quick response and leadership in this challenging time.
"Our baptismal vows call us “to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves.” We therefore reject rhetoric, policies, and actions that demean or discriminate against any of God's children...” #UMC
