#MathsToday does anyone know of a basic numeracy package that monitors progress, diagnoses gaps etc that could be used with KS3/4? If it could be run by a non specialist even better.

#MathsToday @ecrmaths.bsky.social @aqaeducation.bsky.social in last year's CM paper students were asked to rep the data from a grouped freq table in a suitable diagram. Previous years CF graph, histogram or freq poly all accepted. This time only CF or hist in m/s. Any reason why not a freq poly?

#MathsToday Sorry everyone I'm a bit out of the loop. Which entrance exams are needed for maths for Oxbridge now as I know there have been changes?

In #mathstoday we were discussing super curricular things that students can do if they are thinking about doing maths at uni. I'm sure I remember someone sharing a list of things that they could do. Anyone know of such a list? 🤞

This looks amazing. Thank you mrhardymaths.co.uk
A friend of mine has just launched this website that I think is pretty great for generating quick starters for A-Level maths and he has started adding some questions for Further Maths too.

Hello lovely people, I need your help.

We still haven’t found a buyer for Mum’s lovely retirement house near the sea in Cromer on Norfolk coast. It really is time someone else was making happy memories there.

I’d really appreciate everyone sharing it widely 😁

I have a y12 student who is struggling with moments in physics. I don't teach mechanics so don't know how different what they do in physics is to what they will do in y13 maths. Does anyone know of any great resources I can direct him to to help him get his head round it? TIA

@ecrmaths.bsky.social did you ever get a reply from @aqaeducation.bsky.social about the Normal distribution and the use of calculators or not?

#MathsToday I have a couple of questions. Does anyone know a calculation I can type into a fake calculator to prove to a student it is giving wrong answers? Secondly, has anyone changed how they teach trig now we know they get a formula sheet, to use a, b, c rather than h, a, o to match the sheet?

I was right. It was indeed a great morning. Thank you Norwich School for organising and thank you to @sparksmaths.bsky.social and @tomrocksmaths.bsky.social and Nira Chamberlain for your engaging talks. Our students really enjoyed it and in FM today we watched the Martini glass video 🤯
We've got a certain Mr Sparks @sparksmaths.bsky.social coming to talk at the Norfolk Maths Symposium next month along with @tomrocksmaths.bsky.social and Nira Chamberlain. It's going to be a great morning!

@mathsbox.bsky.social do you know where can I find this worksheet? I'm sure it's one of yours but I can't find it anywhere on the site. Thanks

I’ve just got home for a meal out. There was music playing. One song was let it snow, we decided it wasn’t specifically for Christmas just wintery so let it go. Then Rocking around the Christmas Tree came on. It is still September!! Too early!!

In #MathsToday I hit a new level. It was our y6 open evening, I spoke to one of the students and turns out I taught her dad 😱 I used to ask students about siblings, looks like I’ve now hit the parents level 😬

@EdexcelMaths with this updated guidance from JCQ please can you not schedule GCSE Nov exams 48 hours apart as it gives us no time to discuss topics with the students before the next exam

#mathstoday when teaching plans & elevations we draw a line across if there is a change of direction on the face. do you teach them to draw a dotted line if there is a change of direction on the opposite face, so could only be seen if the shape was transparent? No mention in spec or Edexcel SOW

Can you get AQA core maths papers back to look at for free or is it just Edexcel that does that?

Hi Matt, would it be possible to add a few things on LWB? I'm looking for questions like 1.35 x 48. I can only find ones with 0.something, expanding brackets like 2x^2(3x-7) so a power as a factor and using a calc when it’s a bit harder, when it involves trig in a fraction or powers or both, thanks
