I am about two weeks or so from formally starting my training cycle for the Boston Marathon. This will be marathon number eight for me (first time for Boston), and I’ve never really shared thoughts on the whole process before. Since I am fundraising as part of this one, I figure I might share some.

I made a test to see if a screen reader will still wait for the main thread to be unblocked before announcing already-visible HTML content and... yep. Making a page "paint" long before it's interactive makes a page feel faster for sighted users, but not everyone. We need some inclusive perf metrics.

No, Strava AI, the reason my pace was slower was not because I was “relaxed”. It was because most of the run was in the dark, using a headlamp to see, on roads I’ve never run on before.
