In a small town on Prince Edward Island, I spend my days creating stories for children and their families.
Charging devices. Work still needs working even when there is no power.

Daybreak, the sky is crystal clear.
Behind towering mountains, the morning rays are radiant.
Surging forth, their flares engrave the sky.
Illuminating and emanating great power, the source from which all things grow and flourish-this is the nature of good deeds.

Americans assume their democracy is stable and their institutions strong enough to withstand authoritarian attacks, but history shows this belief is dangerously mistaken - democracies have collapsed throughout history precisely because people wrongly assumed they would survive.

I’m looking forward to spring - listening to birds, smelling fresh earth, watching things grow. But it’s not smart to wish time away, so I sit here in the dark before dawn with wonderful coffee, writing and reading before the day begins. For now, this is enough.

Why am I paying such high property taxes on a dilapidated old house in a community with few public services? The problem with being too busy is that questions like this go unanswered for far too long. For the first time in awhile we said, maybe we can't afford to live on this Island.

I’ve broken my no-news rule and watched analysis on Greenland. Very smart people. Too smart. Everyone grasps the obvious but won’t accept the regime’s actual depth-or shallowness. There’s no strategy beyond I want it. When you have ultimate power, a child’s logic is often all that’s left. #greenland

What happens if the people of Venezuela say no, not the government, but the people? Will Americans starve them to compliance? Kill them?

Why doesn’t media ask these simple questions to the regime?

We want it even though there’s no reason to have it and we’re going to take it even if we have to burn the whole world to get it - The United States

January has been difficult for as long as I can remember. Not just the weather - it was the same in warmer places. I’ve been up awhile with a lot to do, but thinking it’s best to go back to bed. So much to do, though.

I guess Maritime Electric is aware of the toll that constant power fluctuations has on electronics and appliances?

Heating my garage office is expensive - the new heat pump helped though it will take years to recoup it's cost. This months bill is considerably less than last years at this time, but still high due to an increase in electrical rate, which is supposed to go to an investment in infrastructure.

I don't do resolutions but maybe this year I will try to be less salty, and more kind.

Trees are falling all around us. So far missed the house and office.

My daughter orders 6 books from Taiwan and read them all within a day. So thankful for the library.

Sat for 30 minutes looking at white screen. No words magically appeared. Time to move on.

I avoid news as much as possible - especially if it involves that embarrassing senior citizen south of the border. But today I saw a video of him talking about Somalis and Somalia, and it has to be one of the ugliest diatribes I've heard in my long life. America has quickly become a horrible place.

The sign at the doctor’s office clearly says take your shoes off. And yet many don’t. Particularly men my age.

Taiwan really has its logistics together. Order books on Monday, arrive on Friday.
