Lunas Campos, a Cuban national, died on January 3, 2026, after a confrontation with five guards. He was asking for medication. A inmate stated he saw guards choking him while Lunas Campos repeatedly cried out in Spanish, "No puedo respirar" ("I can't breathe"), before falling silent.

He absolutely is unwell. It’s elder abuse. If his handlers thought he had a legacy or even a reputation to protect, they would remove him. It’s abusive to keep propping him up and pretending they think he’s in charge.
