19% of crimes reported to the police nationally go unrecorded. That's nearly 1 in 5 crimes.

Some police forces in England had less than a 15% accuracy in their recording of crimes in 2022. In 94.3% of cases reported to the police no charge or summons is made. If that kind of data was replicated within the other emergency services or the health care system, it would be a scandal.

Low literacy levels increase vulnerability to sexual exploitation, violence, and grooming. It can impede an individual's ability to recognise and articulate experiences of exploitation, making it harder to seek help or support. But literacy can empower our most vulnerable young people.

Having as few as 20 books in a home can improve a child’s educational attainment by 3+ years. For children in disadvantaged communities, this access can break the cycle of poverty. 📚

• 1 in 5 leave school struggling to read or write.
• Almost 50% of GCSE students fail to pass English and Maths.

Poverty is stealing our children’s childhoods as well as their futures. We are creating a generation locked in the cycle of poverty.
