Hey historians! Any recommendations for readings on passes being issued to foreign sailors by English governors in the 17th century Caribbean?

Not privateering licenses but passes to allow a foreign (in this case Spanish) sailor to leave an island (in this case Nevis).

Please and thank you! 🗃️

This is one of my favorite, low-tech, ways of visualizing the past! Doesn't oversell the reconstruction, shows possible past and present in same view, works, rain or shine and without power.
An interesting way to help people visualize what a ruin used to be.

Reading an article I wrote last year, which is about to go to press, I regret not having the courage of my convictions and leading with Professor Gillingham's rather more 'colourful' assessment of King John. If I'd still been an Independent, I would have risked it...!

#geneology Hi I have been researching genealogy for many decades. Roots in Dartmoor, the Lake District, Scotland and (according to the latest dna) Iceland. Any excuse to do someone’s tree and I can not resist. Also doing a PhD in #earlymoden Pluckley.
