I keep a Scrivener document where I write down every new thing I've learnt while working on a new art piece. This means I can go back and check if someone asks me how I did a particular animation or painting.

Text reads: BTS - Crocodile Mundy II (Pt 1 Apartment) -Parent Constraints Tip: -So, similar to animating in Maya, you can't parent a weapon to a hand if you have previously parented the hand to that weapon. A child cannot become the parent of a parent in Blender, it creates a paradox (or a "loop in parents" as the error is labelled as). Doesn't matter if the previous constraint is set to 0. Doesn't matter if you try to parent a different bone of the same rig. A loop in parents will break the constraints. -But what if you want to animate a character getting pulled around by a weapon (parent: weapon), and then later walking around with that weapon (parent: character)? -So, a way to get around this problem (besides just trying to *eyeball it and animate the prop as if the hand is holding it* which I *do not* recommend, as it never looks as good) is to add in another weapon that looks the same. Then find a moment where the constraints need to change, and then swap out of weapon for the other in 1 frame. Ideally do the swap when the weapon isn't on screen, or when a shot changes. But you can even do it within the same shot in full view by snapping the weapons' locations to the same position and hiding the one being replaced. -Additional experimenting with parent constraints

It's very useful, because it also has controls at the bottom to set the cursor to always be the eyedrop tool when selecting the ref (instead of pressing the switch tools hotkey, and previous/next buttons for multiple ref images.

I don't see anyone else mentioning it here, but YouTube has rolled out automatic "Video Quality enhancements" feature that is automatically enabled and is making video quality and sound way worse.

Tips: moving from Xitter to Bsky Before you start following people, fill out your profile! Bio, PFP, banner, and post at least 5 to 10 things. Just reuse your top 10 banger tweets—recycling is encouraged! This way, people will know you aren’t a bot, will see what you are about, and might follow back. Turn off NSFW filters in Settings > Moderation > Enable Adult Contentand at the bottom on Settings > Moderation > Bluesky Mod Service Find your friends from the hellsite using Sky-Follower-Bridge.devNot perfect, but it will find the majority of the people you were following.Beware of fake tools that ask for money! Follow a few feeds related to your interests. In bsky you choose what kind of content you want to see. You can pin feeds (into tabs) to the top of your timeline, and you always have access to the Following feed which shows nothing but who you choose to follow. Block often. Don’t interact with trolls. Don’t quote dunk, comment, nothing. Let them rot in silence, take away their oxygen and they’ll asphixiate. This is the Bsky way. Turn off language filters in Settings > Languages > Content Languages Or you won’t see posts from anyone in Japan, Germany, etc, in your feeds, even if they only post a cool image with no text. Weird, but trust me on this one. Uncheck all to see all posts. Fuck content scrapers. Do not let that trash overwhelm this site, do not share their stolen content. You can block them all with two clicks by going to joabaldwin.com/scrapers and on the top-right clicking on Subscribe > Block Accounts (I know, “Subscribe” is an odd thing to name it, but that’s how block lists work). Use alt text to make images accessible. Helps for translations, readability, findability, and users with slow internet. Turn on Settings > Accessibility > Require alt text before posting It takes time to rebuild, but the best time to do it is right now. Use your last tweets to tell everyone to move, then stop posting. Twitter is a Nazi/AI/bot/crypto cesspit.

The reason why AI is being promoted by companies is because they see it as a way to make money by not paying workers and using their work without their credit or consent. That's it, that's why they like it. Any other reason they say is them trying to justify it.
Keep AI gross and don't normalise it.

we can't let our hostility to plagiarism and ripoffs slip even a little bit. I made that mistake with sandfall and I regret it

we have to push studios, channels, whatever, to be EXPLICIT in not using AI, whether it's an acknowledgement somewhere or just a statement. it isn't the default anymore.
