New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author. Very eccentric.
My mother's birthday is tomorrow, so I made her a birthday card using an old photo of my sister and me. I didn't realize my mother gave me a bowl cut, but the proof is there!

Happy Turkey Day for those of you who celebrate. Go ahead and lay out your weird food combos that you love on Thanksgiving.

Mine: my family are firm believers in black olives on the plate, swimming in a sea of turkey gravy and mashed potatoes.

Your turn!

Happy Owain day! Who's Owain?
Read A Vampire in a Pear Tree and find out!

[Note: it's available in e-book and print; audio and foreign language translations are hopefully coming soon.]

And this is why, even after having written more than 70 books, I still need a copyeditor. Luckily, I have one who copyedited all of my Penguin books, so she's veeeery familiar with my writing quirks, including deleting things and forgetting to make sure nothing else refers back to the deleted text.

Did I ever tell you guys I am very slightly dyslexic? I don't have trouble reading, but sometimes things get tangled when writing. Earlier this morning I wrote the word 'spun' as 'pusn.'

Do you have any weird reading/writing things? Help a girl feel more normal about all her writing oddities.

I got hit by a flu this weekend, and spent an entire day dry heaving (and am now so sore I can't cough or laugh without pain around my ribs), but Editor Laura returned the Christmas novella, so now it's time for work..

What have you been up to while I had my head in a bucket, barfing up nothing?

Happy Yrian day!
The official release newsletter just went out, and includes deets on the Secret Santa and Christmas Card Exchange, as well as links to finding Yrian on your reading platform of choice.

Oh, and I may have released Yrian's e-book early via my shop. *cough*
[Paperback peeps, it'll be available in print tomorrow on Amazon]

The Christmas vampire novella (which also has dragons and Jim) is off to my beloved Editor Laura. My copyeditor is on standby to grab it as soon as it's passed Laura's muster, so we are (hopefully) on track for a late November release!

Go. Read this. And know that the Christmas novella I will hopefully finish tomorrow has been 100% completely written by me, direct from my brainmeats to my fingers.

The problem with writing scenes with the dragons and vamps being social together is that I've set a precedence where whoever is hosting provides snacks, and that means I have to go out and look online for fancy-schmancy appetizer suggestions. Then I'm pouty because I don't have those appetizers.

This fabulous book was written by Peter Sword. Um...yeah. That's not at all a suggestive name given the book.

Also, what the hell was the cover artist thinking? Even if it was a risque book, I bet they could have depicted that without this pose

A new video is up! Yes, I'm trying very hard to do this at least once a week. I hope it gives you some sort of insight into how my brain works. :)

The muse has decided! The next book (unless she changes her mind, which is known to happen) will be a vamp book that has ties to the dragon books.

I know, I'm shocked, too. Who'da thunk the muse, with her obsession with dragons, would go for a book where she could squeeze one in?

The newsletter just went out with all sorts of stuff, including a link to a video I just put up on YouTube that discusses the upcoming book.

And there are lots of cute animals to watch while I natter on.

I'm being hunted. And no glamour in the world is going to disguise the biggest threat to my existence...and the dragon who might possibly be everything I want.

Yrian is back from Editor Laura's gentle hands. And she is making me laugh in her edits, as usual.

I suck at social media.

However, I am frequently on the Katie Mac discord channel (discord.gg/hjNGXqnSD4). Feel free to swing by if you want to actually see me roaming around talking to myself about various heroes, what book I should be writing, and what weird things I'm researching.

Yrian's book, THE DRAGON WITH A GIRL TATTOO, has in it:

Aisling, Drake, their kids, and Jim
Ysolde, Baltic, and their son
Brom and Pixie
Allie and Christian, and their kids
Jim's parents
Dr. Kostich
...and a handful of people you haven't met yet.

Yrian's book is off to Editor Laura to work her magic on it. A fun fact: Editor Laura has worked with me for more than twenty years. She was my editor at Penguin, and has worked on almost all my books since Corset Diaries. She is beyond awesome, and shares with me a fine appreciation of Baltic.

Have I mentioned to you that I don't use AI at all in my books, either in the content or on the covers?

I love authors, artists, and narrators too much to ever replace them. You can rest assured that the weirdness that are my books comes solely from my brainmeats.
