What a week! So grateful for the opportunity to speak at #Config2025 alongside @lukasoppermann.com. Our talk "Connecting code with craft" is now up on YouTube, check it out! youtu.be/6l6El4xqIZ4?...

I'm particularly proud of this last minute slide edition.
I thought I’d have better luck finding someone to give me a post production template based on my current audio setup. So not necessarily hardware based. There’s some sites out there for that. I’ve also heard you can hire people to have a video call and live tweak your setup together 🤷‍♀️

I’ve had this same thought, tried to find someone, gave up, and now just live with mediocre sound quality 😭

Ohh, I haven’t heard of this one!

I would classify it as average shininess level I think 😄

Not necessarily a coffee table book, but Virginia Howlett’s Visual Interface Design for Windows has lots of nice images.

Take a lil break from your clawdbot setup and immerse yourself in a conversation about icons in menus inspired by Nikita Prokopov's article "It’s hard to justify Tahoe icons"

Well this explains a message I got from Davy earlier after my cat jumped on me during a meeting.

I’m also frustrated with apps lately and I want to try making my own. You’ve certainly inspired me!

PJ, how did you get started making iOS apps? Is it a large learning curve?

How's your day going?

The new 28 Years Later really hits! Starting off 2026 strong.

Totally agree. I haven’t really found a solution, I just put up with it. Which is a bummer!

I’ve been getting ads on podcasts completely in Spanish lately. I don’t speak Spanish. What did I do to invoke this?!

I hate that the new artwork quad at the top takes up like 50% of the screen forcing me to scroll to see the list of episodes

You’re right, good point. Like with anything else, if there’s an interest to learn the craft and be an active participant cross functionally then having prev experience doesn’t matter so much. Putting devs on DS work when they have no interest in learning the ropes isn’t great (IMO)
January 14, 2026 at 2:04 AM
I really like your point about non DS engineers doing DS work compared to designers which are usually hired exclusively for that role. I've never understood that, I feel like it's pretty important to hire engineers with DS experience. You wind up with a bunch of tech debt without that expertise.

I haven't heard of Retool, should I try it?! It looks like it might be too heavy for my use case but maybe it would simplify things..
January 13, 2026 at 3:17 PM
Been working on a lil dev stack for my non tech partner to collab on a web app we have running on our NAS:

GitHub for source control/actions to deploy
Cursor hacked with a GH codespace for dev
Live Share so I can check work/guide

No more watching him struggle w/ vibe code apps
January 13, 2026 at 3:08 AM
Did you consider the fact that design roles often involve code implementation? That would be hard to glean from looking at job titles alone, but it certainly happens. I didn’t see you touch on that in your post but I may have missed it.
