Great to be in the audience of the 2025 BBC Reith Lectures delivered by author Rutger Bregman.

Rutger thinks we need a new “true radicalism” to follow in the footsteps of the Fabians of the 19th century.

My question? how could this new Fabianism be communicated in the age of news by TikTok etc

Yesterday was about saving jobs. It was also a moment that commanded the nation's attention. Some thoughts from me on the importance of such moments of drama in modern political communication. blairmail.substack.com/p/attention-...
Attention, Please!
The dramatic recall of Parliament was the right thing to do. It was also an example of good strategy in a political landscape where attention matters as much as message.

What are the public's priorities for additional funding?

There is strong consensus for more health spending - but differences arise when it comes to other services.

So delighted to be selected for Edinburgh Eastern, Musselburgh and Tranent. I cannot wait to get to work with the excellent Labour team of MPs, MSPs, Councillors and of course our dedicated activists. Thanks to everyone who supported me.

I'm so proud to be supported by four incredible trade unions: Community, GMB, Unison, and Usdaw. All do amazing work fighting for their members, and I can't wait to stand alongside them should I be lucky enough to be selected tomorrow.

Honoured to be nominated by the Co-operative Party. The party plays such an important role in our movement, and I can't wait to campaign alongside fellow co-operators to win for Labour in 2026.

Proud to be endorsed by Ruth Elliott. As a former Scottish Greens activist, Ruth knows how important the climate emergency is to voters across Edinburgh. This is one of my top issues, and I'm honoured that Ruth has put her trust in me to champion our environment in the Scottish Parliament.

Overwhelmed to have the support of my home CLP, Midlothian North and Musselburgh! Thank you to local members for their nomination. 🌹

So proud to be endorsed by Margaret Curran. She has been a fantastic mentor and friend to me over the years. She was an exceptional MP,MSP,and Minister, and has done incredible work mentoring female politicians in other countries. I can't wait to be campaigning with her again in Musselburgh soon!

Whilst there are a number of great programmes to encourage women into politics there is very little support for women further along in their political journey. Women dropping out just as big a problem as women not coming forward at all.
March 23, 2025 at 6:32 PM
Thank you to Daniel Coleman for his kind endorsement. Daniel was a brilliant campaign coordinator in Edinburgh Northern and Leith CLP. I look forward to working with him on the campaign to win back Edinburgh from the SNP in 2026.

Great turnout for our Edinburgh-wide campaign day!

Fantastic to be out in Hillside, Edinburgh - fond memories of my first flat there.

Out with the amazing local Labour team Tracy, Foysol and James, and activists speaking to voters about the change a Scottish Labour government can bring.
