A DOJ investigation had determined that South Carolina officials illegally denied community-based services — required by federal law — to over 1,000 people diagnosed as seriously mentally ill.

Bystanders didn’t cause the state patrol pursuits that shattered their lives. Still, they are left with life-altering injuries, thousands of dollars of medical bills, totaled vehicles and little legal recourse to make their lives whole again.

The Georgia Vocational Rehab Agency reported a massive spike in its employment figures: that a total of 78% of its clients had work when they exited the program.
