Skimming through the first film makes me wish I cared more about Pokemon as a kid. Even without that childhood nostalgia you can feel the residual hype from it. The opening in particular is so disproportionately cool and cinematic for what it needed to be

Scrubbing through some of the Pokemon anime for a vid, and this is such an impressively perfect opening to the show. It's almost a waste, this should've been saved for the movie instead. Every kid woulda gone immediately apeshit seeing this on the big screen
