My dad, aka Old Pirate, loved The Globe & Mail. He loved it best back in the day when it came heavy with stacks of many sections, bursting with news from around the world. He read it every day he lived in Canada. Today’s edition features my tribute to him. www.theglobeandmail.com/life/article...

This is my three time great grandmother, Eliza Bobo. She was born as an enslaved person in 1844. She was in her 20s when emancipation came. Her daughter, Ida Bobo, was also born a slave. She died in Watts in 1963. My older brother & sister were babies learning to walk/crawl down the street.

What a steadying thought in a time of great disruption.
