My biggest takeaway from this semester was that there is no wrong way to communicate and all forms of communication hold a message to be delivered and decoded. Also, everyone will interpret messages differently based on medium, relationship, etc. #UTcommtheory

Out of all the theories we covered this semester, I like uses and gratifications the most. I think it is important to analyze the whys of what we do and it's not always the same for everyone. We don't need media as people we use it to fulfill a need important distinction. #UTcommtheory

In the digital age agenda setting is still very much at play as the platforms using the algorithms can push and pull content which can affect the public as well as personal agendas. I definitely get grouped in with others feeds based on my interests and gatekeeping doesn't let me explore as much

I have been witnessing a lot of the media influencing public agenda lately such as the SNAP funds during the government shutdown. linked is an article from ABC News outlining what snap recipients should be focusing on and informed about #UTcommtheory

My biggest obsession has always and will always be Harry Potter, so I have that kind of parasocial relationship with the cast of those movies. This series was such a needed escape for me that these actors in those films just feel like friends. #UTcommtheory

1. The media company I chose was Nintendo.
2. Nintendo is known for their games starting in the late 80s recently though they have been presenting for progressive labeled content such as making Princess Peach or Zelda better roles as heroes.

I can never make everybody happy. I have to make a decision whether to be true to myself or true to what people like my family want to see. Either way I'm silencing myself or getting berated by my family, so this tired looking gif is relatable to the theory of context collapse. #UTcommtheory

One way AI has positively affected my education is being implemented in the process as a tool. I can study, revise, plan. It helps me to feel as if I have someone or something to verify my ideas and makes me more confident in my work before I submit it.

I engaged in assertive assimilation when I was trying fit in with the work culture of the insurance job. It was a very much alpha male mentality dominating the culture. A lot of yelling and pep talks. This is not my personality, but I did try to be more outgoing. #UTcommtheory

This is me anytime I don't do something perfectly. Could be an assignment, a conversation, my job, etc. I become a box of shame mentality from the despicable me movie. #UTcommtheory

The approach to decision making that I respond best to is participation as I imagine most if not all people do as well. Stakeholders want their voice to be heard and valued this is the only approach that actually accomplishes that and prioritizes it. #UTcommtheory

The organization that needs a culture shift the most in my mind is our country's government. The wealth disparity from the poor to rich has never been bigger the numbers in power right now are completely skewed towards one side's extreme agenda. We need empathy compassion and true democracy.

I used Ethos as it is something that feeds into the more subconscious rather than explicit words. If I ran up to someone all bloody and said someone was trying to kill me Id probably be believed. However, if I ran up and said the same spiel looking polished I wouldn't. #UTcommtheory

This example shows my cognitive dissonance from the idea of getting up early and being productive to the reality of me being unable to get up without a present motivating factor. I want to get up and do my homework, but my bed is too comfortable. #UTcommtheory

I support this theory, but it doesn't just depend on me it also takes into account the other person and what media they have to work with. For example, I have strong ties between me and my family but less media connecting us than that of my friends who I also have strong ties with. #UTcommtheory

In regard to social media, I myself do not post much if really at all but I do scroll through quite a bit. One thing that I did recently post however was my new relationship status and my current boyfriend. We openly discussed when to do it how to do it and did it together. We were co-owners of this

I recently finished New Girl. Nick and Jess are a good example of the connection versus autonomy debate. They are very different, but how they appeal to each other without losing their individuality is a central problem in their relationship. #UTcommtheory

I am at the beginning of a promising new relationship. Nonverbal warmth, such as letting me lie on him, makes me feel more secure and confident about the relationship. Through self-disclosure, we have also gained more information and comfort with each other. #UTcommtheory

I have an interesting habit of trauma bonding with people. What I mean is that typically information as deep as that is only shared after time and trust have been built; however, I will be meeting people, and we will randomly bring up something extremely deep and tragic. #UTcommtheory

My family resembles most the protective family, though hearing it referred to as that elicits a response of anger from me, as I did not feel that my family did to protect me, but to erase me. They were heavily influenced by conformity and could not have their views questioned. #Utcommtheory

The violation I chose was not to engage in an established norm. I didn't text back my best friend immediately after. She became worried and confused and texted me more. This reveals that our relationship is strong, and she really cares about me and my well-being. #UTcommtheory

The most common opposition for (I) is wanting to sleep when (me) needs to get things done and be productive, whether that involves doing homework, work, or cleaning, etc. It is a daily battle. #UTcommtheory

I am most interested in the semiotic theory because I find it fascinating that many different people can view the same symbol but have different meanings and interpretations based on their personal experiences associated with it. #UTcommtheory

In my opinion, the most important criterion used to evaluate a theory is the testable hypothesis. The testable hypothesis is the cornerstone of a theory's validity. If it cannot be replicated for similar results, then how does it accurately represent the way things are? It doesn't. #UTcommtheory

Personally, I am more aligned with the interpretive approach. I believe that life would be easier to understand with an objective approach. However, the interpretive approach is more realistic to how the actual world works; different reactions are incredibly valid. #UTcommtheory
