Have I really just read EHCPs might be scrapped to 'fix' the 'SEND crisis' ?

This removes the rights and adjustments for a child to access education.

Funding challenges should never come at the expense of a child’s right to support and inclusion in education.

I didn’t get locked up, abused, and handcuffed throughout my childhood because I have a disease. It’s because sick fucking people like this think it’s more important to eradicate diversity than welcome it. I’m disabled far more by society’s inability to have compassion than I am by autism.

Had a fantastic opportunity to speak with students at Salford University about autism, victimisation, and the Criminal Justice System. It was great to engage in discussions on the societal barriers autistic people face, the impact of victimisation, and the changes needed to improve practice.

It only takes a second to offer kindness, but the impact can last a lifetime. It requires no wealth, no status, just a willingness to see beyond judgement and stereotypes.

It’s midweek, and I find myself reflecting again on stories I’ve read over the past few weeks, some recent, some old. Too many accounts of systematic, preventable harms in places meant to be safe: education, health, and social care. Lives changed forever, or worse, lost.

Autonomy is central to ethical and effective support. It’s not about what we assume to be true or see to be true (as we may not see anything at first). It’s about asking, listening, and learning from those we seek to support.

One of the most frustrating and consistent findings I have found in literature on experiences of autistic victimisation, is the lack of conviction on reported crimes.I am sure this is an issue across many reported crimes. It is disheartening that the reality of justice feels like a false promise.
