Gambling is the cause of extreme harm in our communities, and Australians lose more to gambling than anyone else in the world per capita. We here in the Northern Territory have created a regulatory system that operates as if its primary purpose is to serve the gambling industry, not the community.

With all the news lately about toxic emissions coming across Darwin Harbour, this event is a great opportunity for a frank and open discussion with local paediatrician Dr Louise Woodward about Darwin's air quality and what can be done.

Thank you to everyone for your great ideas about how we make Rapid Creek Markets even better. An update - Costa is working on more shade, fans, addressing parking concerns, and fixing up the toilets. Keep your ideas coming and I will keep passing them on!

Today is @NationalSurvivorsDay.
Last month I attended an event to recognise and support Survivors of sexual violence, and had the privilege of meeting Schyler Kennedy.
Thank you, Schyler, for your activism, strength and compassion. To all Survivors - we see you, we hear you, we believe you.

Lately there have been lots of community conversations about our wonderful Rapid Creek markets and how they can be even better. I've been talking to Costa (who manages the markets and is very open to everyone's ideas!) and local council about how we can make this happen - I'll keep you posted!

This is not about stopping people from having a flutter. This is about ensuring that our legislative systems are strong, fit for purpose, and protecting Territorians from harm, not enabling it.
