Thinking of picking an early 20th century novelist to read a lot of in 2026. Right now I’m between Cather, Hemingway, & Fitzgerald.

2026 writing goals:

- give novel #1 a final pass through & start querying agents
- figure out the structure of novel #2 & try to have a first draft done by the end of 2026
- write at least two poems every week
- work on some longer (4-6k word) short stories

If the last place I taught had this rule, I would have been suspended because a student couldn't find the right classroom & complained to my department that I must have secretly moved the entire class to a different room.
From the Oklahoma U student paper: the school is now saying it will automatically suspend faculty (with pay) in response to student complaints

I have a new story which contains the phrase "fuckboy with a heart of gold" in the just-launched Some Words, a literary journal shaped like a message board.

Many thanks to @juscarts.com for taking this piece and for starting up such a beautiful strange thing
