Wow. If you have an Amazon Alexa device, for the love of god do NOT "upgrade" to Alexa+. It has rendered my Echo, Echo Dot and *probably* my Fire TV inoperable. And of course, Amazon doesn't actually HAVE customer service, so it's a total nightmare.

I would like to thank American Episcopal Bishop Sean Rowe for suspending the church's refugee resettlement program and refusing to support this Misadministration's attempt to remake the USA as a White Nationalist Homeland. White Afrikaners aren't "refugees" and don't deserve this deference.

The only shocking thing about SCOTUS leaning toward legalizing the Christian version of state-sponsored madrasas is that Amy Coney Barrett recognized that she might be seen as biased and recused herself. Who would have thought Justice Ofjesse would be the principled, ethical heart of the Court?

NYT is reporting that El Salvador President Bukele refuses to return wrongly deported law-abiding legal US resident Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the USA. I suspect the guy has already been tortured or killed by the brutal prison guards at Bukele's order.

This handsome fellow is a repeat visitor to my critter room. Found him this morning basking on top of the frog vivarium, and relocated him to the back garden.

So, the FAA has awarded a no doubt huge contract to Elon Musk's company to "upgrade" their systems with Starlink terminals. Considering Musk's usual practice of not bothering with beta testing until the system is live, I expect the USA's air safety record to crater after deployment.

A friend at work has gifted me an entire small tub of pork Pocky. Dry, powdery, faintly sweet filling (made of pork!) wrapped in nori.

Interesting.

Well, we now have a clear target date that Trump's administration wants to take us back to. Howard Lutnick, Trump's pick for Commerce, has publicly stated that the last time America was great was at the turn of the 20th century, when there was no income tax, and tariffs funded the US government.
