Olusheno is crowdfunding a loan on Kiva. They have an excellent repayment history. In addition, this kind of investment in Africa is an important step in bringing renewable energy to everyone.

I was number 100 this morning. We had city council and school board on the ballot.

I participated in a “Health Care Nightmare” press conference yesterday. Allina is closing clinics, which was the presenting issue, but we also called out the increasing costs as one of our largest insurers has pulled out of the state exchange, the GOP is abolishing subsides.
A group of about 30 people, some wearing Halloween costumes, are standing in front of an Allina Health Clinic. Many are holding signs protesting against the cost and unavailability of healthcare. Several are in clerical collars, indicating a religious office.

Had a great time catching up with @jm-soccer.bsky.social today! It’s been way too long. Also, he showed me this truly epic historical marker.
A man and a woman are facing the camera and smiling. They are outdoors in a residential area. A historical marker which goes into a lot of detail about a very insignificant visit to the area by President Taft. It gives the full text of his remarks, the number of cars in his motorcade, and notes that he sipped a glass of lemonade, among many other trivial things.

This is absolutely my favorite St Anthony tradition!

The graduating seniors put on their caps and gowns and go process through the elementary school and all the little kids line the halls and cheer and clap. The big kids all roll their eyes and say it’s cringe, but they are beaming when it’s done.
A line of high school students in blue graduation caps and gowns are entering the local elementary school.

I just came back from my local Indian store with 40 pounds of rice, about the same in assorted dry legumes, and spices and spice mixes in the largest sizes I could find. I’ll be going to other ethnic stores over the next weeks. I may be overreacting, but I will feed my kids.

I just got a call from my parents. They were watching Wolf Hall on PBS. At some point they looked at each other and said, “If only Juli were here, she could tell us what’s going on.”

My life choices are vindicated.
