Aujourd'hui, le premier des livres issus de ma thèse a été publié! Destiné à un publique francophone et plutôt littéraire, il sera accompagné d'un autre ouvrage plus historique en anglais.
I attended the first of these events today, a discussion chaired by @cforsdick.bsky.social and Leyla Chery. Jean d'Amérique is a true genius, and listening to him confirmed that even when one studies poetry of the past talking to present-day artists is a must to understand it.
Haitian poet, novelist and singer Jean D’Amérique will be a writer in residence at Cambridge between 3-7 February. There are a series of planned events, most of which will be hybrid, so we encourage you to check out Cambridge’s Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. 2/6

Just submitted my final writing piece of 2025 with a little help from my co-author! It is based on the @fwwsoc.bsky.social 2025 Dennis Showalter Memorial Lecture, which you can watch here: youtu.be/yoaRVrmjDLw?... (bonus points if you can hear the exact moment said co-author woke up from his nap)

Column: Hobbies offer numerous benefits, but crafting comes with special ones. After spending 2,000 hours on cross-stitch, the slow, hypnotizing work kept me focused, making needlework an act of expression, self-care, and even rebellion.

Needlework can soothe the brain, heal the psyche and keep you from texting your ex.

Compiling this thread has made me realise how intense the FOMO of academic parents is! Lack of childcare means I'll miss @frasermcqueen.bsky.social's event and the conference in Tennessee which I would have loved to attend! I love being a mum, but gutted to be missing these events!
Hello and welcome to our Francophone Friday thread, where we come together to highlight research being conducted in or about the Francophone world! These threads are created with help of our members, so if you want to advertise events, publications, etc about Francophone research, do reach out! 1/9

Between jabs, sleep regression, and falling down a Kristeva-on-Bakhtine rabbit hole, I nearly didn't get round to today's thread, but I'm trying to get back into a routine and it was for a good cause: learning more about @profstevenwilson.bsky.social's work and introducing him to our members!
Hello and welcome to our first Meet the Committee Monday in a while! Today we are introducing our new president @profstevenwilson.bsky.social who was elected in September having previously served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Association's journal @francemodern.bsky.social since 2020.

So glad to be back and to be able to compile these threads again! There is so much wonderful research going on about the Francophone world, I am delighted we can give it a platform!
With our team of Web Officers once again complete, we are delighted to resume our weekly threads! As a reminder, on Fridays we have our Francophone Friday thread, where we highlight research being done in or about the Francophone world. 1/8

On my way to Oxford for the "Languages and literatures of the Francophone world in libraries and archives", where I'll be talking about @lacontemporaine.bsky.social, Birmingham City Libraries & Lautarchiv Sound Archives. If you are at the MFO today, come say hello! (Baby is loving his second trip!)

New normal: working on the floor next to the play gym and when one baby leaves my lap the other one takes his place. Having said that, I am very excited for my talk about French collections outside of France at the Maison Française d'Oxford on Friday!

ECR whiplash is real and so, so tiring... in the space of 24 hours I went from delivering a public lecture I won through a competitive award, the grestest honour of my career so far, to not even being shortlisted for a job I thought I'd be perfect for and I don't know how I'm feeling anymore!
