Mictlantecuhtli, Mexica lord of the underworld.
Souls of those who died in ways that did not call them to paradise went to Mictlan. They traveled through nine hells for four years, facing dangerous challenges at each stage. Once they reached Mictlantecuhtli, they disappeared forever.

“In life we learn
We grow
We discover
We write
We erase
And write again
We weave
We unravel
And we weave again
The day I learnt that the only thing I take with me is what I live, then I began to live that which I wish to take”

Purépecha traditional poem, MEXICA TEAHUI
