My first photo of 2026. I wasn’t anticipating any birding yesterday, so imagine my surprise when I ran into this handsome Coopers Hawk while taking out the trash. He was kind enough to wait for me while I raced back to the apartment to get my camera. #birds #raptors

Happy New Year friends! Unable to do a proper bit of birding until the weekend, but the first bird I heard when I stepped outside this morning was a Black-capped Chickadee. I’m happy with that. #birds
