IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR AUTHORS AND SERIES EDITORS ON THE FILM/MEDIA LIST: Do not respond to the letter or accept the new contracts proposed by Taylor & Francis at htis point (unles, of course, you want to). A response is being coordinated. Additional conversations scheduled for the NECS conference.
Amsterdam University Press is sending out letters today notifying series editors and authors that they have been taken over – or shall we say: annexed? – by Taylor & Francis. Not a good day. The evil empire of academic publishing is growing.

I’ve learned so much from @rymontgomery.bsky.social, who is doing excellent work on the French queer filmmaker Lionel Soukaz. À lire absolument
Grateful to share that this issue includes my article on the films of Lionel Soukaz, written before his passing earlier this year. There is still so much more to be said about his radical and inspiring vision for cinema, community and resistance - a vision that we all need, now more than ever.
Our May issue with a special section on 'Reading Le Manifeste conspirationniste (Seuil, 2022)' is now available online ! www.tandfonline.com/toc/cmcf20/3...

Brilliant keynote for our graduate symposium delivered by an old friend, Damien Pollard. A fascinating theorisation of the voice in sound cinema, from the dubbed voices that haunt the Italian giallo to the voiceover MCs of Ugandan ‘wakaliwood’
